How Our Chiropractor Treats Back Pain
Since 1994, The Graston Technique has become known for its use of specific instruments that produce amazing results in the treatment of acute and chronic injuries. When performing the Graston Technique, our chiropractor uses instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) to enable recovery from injuries. These tools are used to identify and treat dysfunction of movement caused by pain and/or changes to your soft tissue structures (ligaments, tendons, muscles, and fascia).
When combined with modalities and rehabilitative exercises, the Graston treatment protocol helps to reduce pain, edema, and loss of range of motion. Patients typically experience a safe and effective reduction of pain and restoration of movement by the end of the first or second week of treatments.
Active Release Therapy
One of the most common procedures our chiropractor uses to treat soft tissue injuries is active release therapy (ART). Many injuries result in tears that cause fibrous adhesions to form in tight ligaments, tendons, and muscles. The goal of ART is to break down these adhesions to restore a patient’s normal range of motion.
When your body receives an injury it creates dense scar tissue to protect the muscles in the affected area. If left untreated, this can cause a muscle to be compromised and become weaker. This results in pain, loss of strength, and a reduced range of motion.
Active Release Therapy is often used for sports injuries, especially when an injury has occurred due to not giving the body enough time to heal properly.
